Flying Ants
There is a flying ant infestation just outside my office. Not keen on going outside again any time soon. Blech. Yuck. Totally vile. And home time! I went out to get an apple and a banana (it works better, I find, if I buy these things randomly: otherwise they merely glare at me, balefully, as I fail to eat them) and ftztp. They are everywhere.
Oh. I finished a sock. Alert the media, as they say?
Why yes, I did walk across the park this morning so I could take a photo. Sock #2 will be started soon. Or poor Eff will have no new socks (these socks want to belong to Eff).

Ah, that’s where I’m going wrong with all the fruit that never gets eaten. I must try the random buying instead of the bulk buying in case I want it …
You seem very speedy with the socks. I tend to start one and it languishes there, waiting for a mate for a zillion years.
I tried bulk buying of nectarines and plums. The nectarine this morning was lurvely. The plum was not. Doesn’t encourage me into good fruit eating habits.

It’s a good thing you finish the socks in pairs so that they don’t have to wonder if their mate was actually just eaten in the dryer!
Pretty
There appear to be flying ants in Camden too, don’t know if you noticed them. Blech, as you say.
Dude, you are making me feel like super slow sock knitter. Well, super slow knitter in general. That, and I’m picking way too complex and long socks.
Sigh.
Down in LaCrosse, they have a mayfly hatch each year: http://www.wxow.com/Global/story.asp?S=8654223
I went down there, and you literally can’t even drive across the bridge when this happens. It’s that filled up with mayflies.
Another weird mayfly article: http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2008/07/07/news/00lead.txt
Now I’m all obsessed with mayflies.
