  • Dear All

You are all lovely.  I don't feel half so lonely, online, now.  And I've also managed to get a  bit better at commenting on other blogs myself.  Long may the love last.

I have a list of DOOOM.  It is so doomful, I'm not quite sure where to start (I suspect with a quick bath and a trip down to the Opticians to collect my New Spectacles).

    • Book more taxis
    • Let D know C has a spare sleeping bag
    • Sort out stuff for activities (my activities plus those of others). i.e. PACK THE LIST OF DOOOM!!!!
    • Audit pencils, glue, felt tips and things of that ilk
    • Room signs - I have these really nifty stars from Captain. All written, need to be printed and stuck on.
    • Sixes (probably not being finalised until Monday, when I have final confirmation from a diff. unit)
    • Chase up about whether Brownie G is coming or not.
    • Fire lists
    • Sticky labels for names, since no one knows every Brownie.
    • Type up emergency contacts and email to Mum Going to print it.  Going to see her on Tuesday...
    • Save docs to memory stick ready to print
    • Sort out duties charts for each six (can I get away with four sixes?)
    • Make points chart Needs printing
    • Find templates for tubs
    • Buy vast quantities of tubs (I still need SIXTEEN) from M&S to stuff my colleages with mini bites... (appreciate that this makes no sense to anyone but me). Still need sixteen more.  There is a picture of the things here: the site plays music at you, it's about halfway down the page.  Anyhow.  I need tubs this size for the Brownies to put their treasures into on Pack Holiday.  Apparently only need 10
    • Acquire more Hama beading boards Delegated
    • Gifts for Guiders Decision made about what to do....cannot be implemented this weekend
    • Find out a. what I'm doing posters with the girls about and b. what info I can find for them. Food hygiene.  Am sure can run to washing hands and things of that ilk (I love that phrase). Found fabbity site  Need to print again (managed to print on printer that was running out of toner.
    • spray paint the tiara gold, and re-glue the pink fluffy stuff.  Stick on gems.
    • Finish making my badge
    • Find out what PH name my Dad's having and make badgeHagrid. Without woollen attachments, as sanity prevailed
    • Collect glasses from opticians
    • Test digital cameras No idea how to delete from them.  Emily!!!!
    • Go to the theatre
    • Make list of things that need buying.  Delegate as appropriate.  Delegating as list made.  V Fine.
    • Standard Brownies Accounts
    • Collect nights away badges.  Find incorrect badges and bag.
    • Deliver G/C Form to A.  Left phone message about it
    • Balance cheque for accommodation PH
    • PH Accounts
    • Phone parents re. taxis.
    • Find CDs of  music for final night party.
    • Buy CD worth of film themes from iTunes (Have SciFi themes.  Does not cut mustard....) iTunes has v. useful movies playlist.
    • Create playlist, since will have laptop and this saves burning CDs.  Plus can vet list, so that Psycho and Jaws do not turn up in the actual playlist.  And add useful things such as Do the Bartman and Christmas is all Around by Billy Mack and Grease and Austin Powers.
    • Phone up and book Orienteering.  To be dealt with during coffee break on Monday.
    • Laundry (I ought to change the sheets, but I can't quite face it at this point)
    • Email organisers re. BP Adventures for Older Guides
    • Ironing
    • Confirm Booking Guide Overnight and let them know I'll visit the place after Pack Holiday
    • Eat Supper
    • Tidy Sitting Room as far as possible  I can now see most of the floor again.

In other news, one of my Brownies made the most FANTASTIC model K9 (will crop photo to show it off to you) which totally distracted Snowy Owl and I from the matter in hand, not that we're any sort of overexcited squeeing fangirls.  Oh no.  The Elves are now the Impemelves six, owing to the fact that Brown Owl had a Moment and forgot which six the were going to be, and requested that Tawny buy Imp badges.  Two will wait for the Elf badges, and the rest had Imp badges today.  And A flashed her bra at Guides (so glad that it was reasonably solidly built), and asked whether I was a virgin (!), and if it hurt the first time....We hope that this line of questioning means that she hasn't actually tried for herself yet.  Why it's always me that she asks, I know not: but I hope that it's not because she's trying to shock and more because she trusts me.  Never can tell with that one.  Far too clever for her own good: but very much clever enough for her own gain.

I'm going to have a bath, collect my new specs, and Get On With It.  Please excuse any random panicks in the near future.  It's not big deep mega panicks.  It's just that I feel a tad Overwhelmed by the Task I have set myself.  And I've just had a brilliant idea for the Hagrid Badge which involves punching holes in shrinkle plastic, shrinking it, and then threading through wool to make hair and beard.

Oh.  And I went hat shopping with Sepha yesterday and she gave me yarn.  I keep stroking it.  It's Alpaca.  In Me Colours.  Yarn stroking is a bit like kitten stroking, but with fewer allergies and less purring.

  • Gosh, that's a busy weekend.  Enjoy!

  • hehehe - maybe you should have told her it's excrutiatingly painful until you stop growing properly.......

  • Hagrid? Brilliant

M&S tubs - one could come to the theatre...I am also reasonably sure work would be happy to donate tubs; I will volunteer to get them for our WiP meeting on Tuesday.

I'm positive you can get away with four Sixes; theoretically they ALL get a go at breakfast plus a meal then...can we let them off Saturday and Monday lunch? Satuday is sandwiches + soup (=zero effort on the girls' part, really...) and Monday is pizza + fruit salad. We wouldn't say no to minions, but...

Suppose I need to head out the door or I will be Late and there will be Woe. Criterion's next to Eros, yus? *also has badge to make but has got quantities and formulae into spreadsheet. Later, I will tackle Tesco online and start Fiddling*

  • Hmmm... yeah I have no idea what all of that means but it looks like you are going to have one busy weekend.  Good luck!

  • I know someone called Sepha, too. I went to ask your Sepha what it was short for, but that was entirely too frivolous question to post as a comment in that blog.

  • @fibermom - Ask away, or use the email link in the profile (actually, I'd like to know too...).  She's lovely, and she won't mind being asked, I'm sure. ~x~

  • Keep up with the kitten, no, I mean yarn, stroking. It will help the panics.... :) You could hang it round your neck for easy access....
Sepha: that's me, as you know, it's....not really short for anything. I thought I'd pulled it out of thin air but I've just discovered that it's a genre of Thai poetic storytelling....I did *not* know that! I'm very poetic(?!) but not very Thai.....

  • What is the fabbity site for food hygiene please - may be useful!  Thanks, JeremyF

  • @JeremyDFisher - http://www.foodafactoflife.org.uk/Sheet.aspx?siteId=12&sectionId=49&contentId=133 Not the most concise of URLs, I grant you, but a very useful site.  I printed off the .ppt files as slides, so six to a page of A4, and turned them into factoid cards, and let the girls go.  Very good stuff ~x~

  • @pink_hebe -

Thank you! I help at a camp for 8+ boys and girls every July and your eloquent observations were interesting.
